HP Nylon PA12 GB — MJF 3D printing

MJF Available Express available

Glass-bead-filled MJF nylon — stiffer and more heat-stable than straight PA12.

HP Nylon PA12 GB 3D printing material

HP's glass-bead-filled PA12 trades some toughness for markedly higher stiffness, heat deflection and dimensional stability — ideal for rigid brackets and fixtures that must hold shape under load and warmth. Like PA12 it ships grey and is usually dyed black.

What HP Nylon PA12 GB is used for

Glass-bead nylon (MJF) is used for stiff, dimensionally stable functional parts — housings, brackets, jigs and fixtures — where a rigid, hard-wearing plastic is needed for production and tooling.

Strengths

  • Much higher stiffness and dimensional stability than PA12
  • Higher heat deflection — around 180 °C at 0.45 MPa
  • Excellent under-load stability for jigs and fixtures
  • Consistent, production-grade MJF surface

Know the limits

  • Trades away toughness — avoid impact-critical parts
  • Heavier and more abrasive than PA12
  • Colour ends at grey or dyed black

Maximum build size

380 × 380 × 280 mm

Surface finish & colours

Matte grey, slightly grainier than plain PA12 due to the glass beads; dyes black and bead-blasts evenly.

Available grey as-printed or dyed black, per process.

Finishing & post-processing for HP Nylon PA12 GB

Parts printed in HP Nylon PA12 GB in MJF can be finished a number of ways at KAD3D, from a clean functional surface to a fully painted, display-ready result. The treatments below are the ones we most often apply to this material.

Dyeing
The part is bath-dyed to a uniform through-colour, most effective on light or natural material and excellent for consistent black finishes.
Bead Blast
Fine media is blasted across the surface for an even, matte, uniform texture that removes powder and tooling marks.
Sealing
A clear sealer closes surface porosity so the part resists moisture and is easier to clean — important on powder and colour parts.
Machining
CNC machining or drilling adds precision features — flat mating faces, bores and tapped holes — to tolerances tighter than printing alone.

What this material supports

✓ Paintable ✓ Threaded inserts
  • Paint & custom colour: HP Nylon PA12 GB primes and paints well, so parts can be matched to any brand colour, gloss level or metallic look.
  • Threaded inserts: heat-set or press-fit brass inserts can be installed for durable, re-usable metal threads for fasteners.

Most popular finish: Bead-blast and dye black; machine critical datum faces where tolerance is tight.

Reference #3DBenchy — like-for-like pricing

To make material costs easy to compare, KAD3D prints the same standard model — the #3DBenchy — in every material. The price shown is what that identical benchmark part costs in HP Nylon PA12 GB, so you can weigh materials against each other on a genuine like-for-like basis before uploading your own file.

Where it fits

Rigid brackets, jigs and fixtures, housings under load, and metrology aids.

Well suited to rigid brackets and metrology fixtures for WA and Queensland mining and automotive operations, where stiffness and heat stability under load matter more than impact toughness.

Behaves like a glass-filled injection-moulded nylon without tooling.
